Premier Inn Tonbridge North

We were visiting family in pembury, about a 20-minute drive away. The room was okay, though cramped for four of us. The bigger problem was the service. We arrived late and wanted to get straight to bed, but each bed had only one pillow and there were no spares in the usual bag. When I asked at reception, the woman there was rude and told us to find some ourselves. About 15 minutes later she brought one pillow to the room, pointed out that we already had pillows, and said there wouldn't be any left if everyone asked for extras. We never got a hello or a smile when coming back in, either. I wouldn't stay here again.

I travel for work a lot and usually choose Premier Inn, but these refurbished rooms would put me off booking one again. I need space to use a laptop with a separate screen, keyboard and mouse. The desk has been replaced by what they call a 'felxi-desk', which is just the little round table the rooms had before, and there aren't any sockets nearby. Maybe 'flexi' means having to drag it around the room to make it usable. The odd shelving frame doesn't give you much room for anything, either. The Ultimate WiFi wouldn't connect. If there's a help desk number for that, someone should be there to answer and help, otherwise it's just a desk, or maybe another little round table.

We slept well, as we usually do here, and the room was very clean. It was a pleasant surprise to find breakfast just downstairs in the morning, so we didn't have to leave the Inn. A very good stay and a nice welcome. 👍

The location worked really well for us, and the room looked fine at first, but closer inspection was disappointing. The bathroom was grubby. The window wouldn't close all the way because a locking handle was broken or missing; at least there was secondary glazing, though its frame and track were filthy. It was warm, fortunately, because the heating thermostat was missing its battery cover and one battery. At over £130 a night, I expected better. Reception didn't greet us when we arrived and kept looking at the computer while we stood there.
