The full English breakfast was excellent, cooked just right with good quality ingredients. The breakfast room was much larger than I expected, and Savy greeted us with a warm smile and looked after breakfast so nicely. Our twin room was surprisingly spacious for one of the smaller rooms, with comfortable beds and a clean, decent-sized ensuite. The house was clean, tidy and well presented throughout. It’s in a quiet residential area, so we slept well. The lounge had books and board games, with a pool table in the room opposite. There were plenty of teas on the hospitality tray, plus KitKat and hot chocolate. Getting the keys was easy thanks to the hosts’ clear instructions, and there was ample free on-street parking. Breakfast options were fairly standard, but the full English was spot on. I’d definitely recommend Cambridge House if you’re visiting Torpoint.

Cambridge House helped make a fabulous weekend while we were in Torpoint for my son's wedding. Breakfast was super, though there was a bit of a wait on the first morning. It was excellent value for a guest house. The room was clean, with modern furniture, and the bed was really comfortable. The tea tray was well stocked, and the individual toiletries were a nice surprise. The kettle lid wouldn’t close, but we managed around it.

I only booked at the last minute, but the owners were kind and accommodating, and gave me clear directions and instructions. My ensuite room was spacious enough for three people, and I slept well. There were lots of tasty breakfast choices, all served with a smile. Crossing The Tamar for this unexpected visit was well worth it. Recommended.

The friendly staff, clean bed and excellent duvet were positives, as were the toiletries, tea making supplies and a couple of chocolate bars. The TV channels were also good, though the screen itself was tiny, around 10 inches, and needed binoculars to watch. The room fell well short of expectations. It was so narrow I had to turn sideways to get past the bed, and with no net curtains I had to choose between closing the curtains or being seen by the terraced houses opposite. The walls were thin enough that I could hear children messing about until after midnight, along with adults talking. After a 300 mile trip, that wasn’t welcome. The room was very dated. I found a note on the door telling me to ring a mobile number to be let in, since staff were up the road. I wasn’t offered free parking, so I used the public highway. The kettle couldn’t reach the plug unless I put it on the floor, and it kept sparking in the extension lead there, so I moved it to the other side of the room. The sink was barely bigger than my hand, meaning I had to fill the kettle with a mug. It was too small for the kettle or both my hands. There were hairs all over the bathroom, so I didn’t use the sink and kept my trainers on. The toilet roll holder tipped to the left whenever touched. WiFi didn’t work in the room because there was no signal. Plymouth City Centre is 3.2 miles via the ferry, not the 1 mile stated, unless you can fly.

There’s a lovely feel to the place, and the Hussey Suite has big rooms. The hotel was clean, the staff were lovely, and the breakfast was good. Free street parking was always available, and it’s only a couple of minutes from the ferry and shops. It may be a little dated, but only slightly, and everything else was excellent.
