Astor House

We keep coming back to Astor House because we love the apartment and its amazing views. Apartment 6 would be even better with a new mattress in the main bedroom, but apart from that it’s a perfect place for a holiday.

The instructions were clear, and the welcome pack was a lovely touch. It’s a wonderful, well-appointed apartment with great quality and an amazing view inside and out. Just be prepared for a possible walk with your bags. There were no spaces on the street, so we had to use the nearest paid car park.

The view from the living room and second bedroom was stunning, I could have looked at it all day. This was our first holiday with an 8 week old, and apartment #16 worked perfectly. We asked for a travel cot, and it fitted nicely in the main bedroom. That room was quiet and spacious, with plenty of storage, so it would be easy to stay for a week or two. We’d definitely come back.

Finding Astor House was confusing: Google Maps took us to the wrong building and the sign is quite small. A very nice lady from housekeeping spoke to me and sorted everything out. We were in apartment 7, at the back on street level, through the little red door. The pavement outside needed cleaning, and the hall carpet looked very dirty and had a hole in it, so I thought, “Oh no, what have I booked?” I nearly shut the door and left. But once we opened the front door, all those worries disappeared. What a beautiful apartment and view. I did my usual wipe down, and put the dishes we’d be using in the dishwasher. Everything inside was spotless. Some parts of the apartment are a little tired, but don’t let that put you off, it’s gorgeous. The long balcony overlooks the sea. Although the entrance is at street level, from the front balcony you’re perhaps on level 6 or 7, with a stunning view. The sheets were immaculate and the bed very comfortable. The sockets are behind the head of the bed, making it awkward to plug in a phone. There’s a secure garden with coded gates and a direct walk down to the seafront. It’s steep, but lovely and well lit. There’s no washing machine in the apartment, though guests can use the laundry room.
