Crofton House Hotel

Getting around was easy, and I was surprised by how close the hotel is to the seafront and shops. I also had no trouble parking right by the front door in the car park, and the price was amazing. The staff made me feel I’d picked the right place as soon as I arrived, they were warm, friendly and really on the ball. The hotel itself is lovely, and the keyless system throughout is so convenient. My room was just right, and much bigger than I expected for one listed as small. I’d come on holiday in December after not leaving Thailand for 3 1/2 years, so it mattered that the room was warm. It was lovely and toasty, which made me feel happy and healthy. The en suite shower was the hottest and most powerful I’ve had in years, and a joy to use. I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else in Torquay when I return. Big thanks to the staff, can’t recommend it enough.

The indoor pool, sauna and steam room were all amazing, and the outdoor patio was beautiful. There’s a cozy main area that would be great for a big group, and cold drinks are kept nicely chilled. My room was spotless and very spacious, and I’d highly recommend the deluxe suite. Reception staff were efficient, knowledgeable and lovely, especially the young man, and checking me in was easy. The housekeeping staff I met were helpful and very nice too. Manager Ahmed was welcoming and accommodating. Everything gets 10/10 from me. It’s also close to town and the seafront. Highly recommend this place.

For budget accommodation, the Crofton House Hotel is very good. We had the Torbay room, which was spacious, clean, warm and comfortable, with furniture that suited the space and an extremely comfortable bed. The bathroom was clean and the shower excellent. The only small issue was the basin plug, though a piece of toilet paper dealt with it. The gentleman at reception was pleasant and helpful.

The room was uncomfortable, with a bad smell of mould and stale cannabis, dirty cup marks everywhere, mould on the nets and curtains, and a broken chest of drawers. There were wires hanging from the towel heater, no heating, and marks and holes across the walls. Outside the window was a pile of rubbish and broken doors. The so-called “suite” was just a basic room, and the bed was uncomfortable too. It felt unsafe, and there was never any staff around to talk to. We didn’t use the pool or other facilities because the room was so dirty and run down that we didn’t want to risk it. Absolutely disgusting hotel.
