The best part was having such a peaceful, private spot to come back to after exploring. The cabin was spotless, roomy, stylish and a bit quirky, with thoughtful touches like plenty of mirrors and sockets, two TVs, a hairdryer, books and DVDs. Outside there was far more space than the photos suggested, with lots of places to sit, a lovely view, deckchairs, a table and chairs, and a bench. The hammock was heavenly, and the cast-iron bath came with a screen so we could have a bubbly soak under the stars. There was even a barbecue. A Morrisons delivery driver saw the place and said, “Wow! You're living the dream!” We didn't have a car and got around on foot, by local bus and by ferry. Check the timetables, and book ahead for some things. We were a little anxious about the owners living next door because we're not very sociable, but they left us to ourselves apart from offering us a lift to the station. We used the steep, winding main road rather than the path behind the cabin. After about ten minutes we reached The Steam Packet Inn, then carried on to Totnes, with its independent shops, cafes and pubs. Salcombe and Paignton are also easy to reach by car or bus. We took the Christie Belle ferry to Greenway, Agatha Christie's holiday home, and the little Castle Ferry to Dartmouth Castle for cream tea by the water. There's so much to do nearby, but we loved returning to our cosy cabin each day. Huge thanks to Nick and Donna.

We had a great time. The cabin was lovely, the setting and views were great, and Donna was really nice. Couldn't have been happier.

A lovely rural spot, but still close enough to Totnes to reach on foot or by car. A great little hideaway for a few days away.
