We’ve already been five times, with both friends and family, and it’s been a great place for a group stay. The drive in has stunning views, and the kids had plenty of games and cards to keep them busy. Bring groceries if you want to enjoy cooking there.

Dee and Richard gave us such a warm welcome for a brilliant off-grid weekend. Dolgoch is a lovely place to switch off from the daily rush, with the Cambrian Mountains all around and Brecon and Snowdonia nearby too. Great company and beautiful scenery made it easy to unwind.

The hostel worked really well for our group of ten, and there was plenty of hot water from the solar panels. We could happily have spent the whole morning watching birds at the feeder, especially the siskins, but we had hills to climb on our bikes. Thanks for a fabulous weekend.

The birdsong at daybreak and the starry skies at night made this a memorable stop on my gravel bikepacking trip from North to South Wales. Dolgoch Hostel is remote, away from roads and about ten miles from the nearest settlements, with a stunning setting and a character all its own. After a tough day in the Cambrian Mountains, the comfortable bed, communal spaces, hot showers and well equipped kitchen had everything I needed. The hostel is clean, well kept and very well organised, and the volunteers run it exceptionally well.

This was my first time in Mid Wales, and the waterfalls, river, roads and views over the big lakes were beautiful. Being at Dolgoch hostel gave me a chance to pause, read, meditate and enjoy the nature around me. It left me feeling grateful to God for these blessings. The drive in was challenging, with a steep, winding single track road at the edge and carefree sheep on the road. I spent two lovely nights there. Two lovely gentlemen welcomed me with tea and cake. The hostel is run by volunteers.
