For the price, it’s hard to complain. The staff were welcoming, and the room was clean and tidy, with a toilet and shower. There were clean towels, complimentary soap and shower gel, plus plenty of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits in the room. My only complaint is that breakfast wasn’t cooked. There was a decent selection of cereal, yoghurt, jam and orange juice in the breakfast area, but none of the electrical sockets seemed to work, so we couldn’t use the toaster or kettle and ended up skipping breakfast. There also didn’t seem to be a staff member on site.

Four of us arrived on motorcycles in a thunderstorm, soaked through, and our host opened up and welcomed us in even though the place was closed. We were given tea, coffee and biscuits, which was great hospitality. It’s a good stop for bikers, with parking right by the door. There’s outdoor seating too, when it isn’t pouring. Give it a try.

The rooms are clean, but the bathrooms are very small and basic, and there’s no Wi-Fi. The main problem is the pub downstairs. Loud music, shouting and singing carry straight into the rooms because there’s no sound insulation, making it impossible to sleep until the pub closes. On weekdays it stays noisy until 11:30pm, and on weekends until 02:00am. I was staying for business and would have been very angry if I’d paid for this myself for a holiday. I don’t like leaving bad reviews, but people should know what to expect. I can’t comment on the food, as none was available while I was there.

We went in to play pool and, after about five minutes, the owner's wife asked us to leave because we hadn’t ordered drinks. We were planning to stay and order, and were just settling in. I wouldn’t have minded a polite question, but instead we were pretty much told to f off. We ended up staying longer, though the owners’ concerns were understandable, there was no need to shout at customers who intended to buy drinks, especially when the pub wasn’t even half full and business was slow. There were no mixers on tap, and the cola and lemonade from plastic bottles were warm and flat. It’s local to the village, and I preferred it when the Irish owners were there.

I visited this pub once while staying with a friend, for a tribute night. I was the only English person there, with my Welsh friends, and everyone made me feel welcome. Had a really good night and would definitely go back when I’m in Wales.
