My son and I came in for lunch today and had a lovely time. The food was first class, arrived promptly and was very reasonably priced. The women serving at the bar and tables were warm and welcoming. What a wee gem.

We stayed overnight in the harbour car park in our motorhome, then took a short walk over the hill to the anchorage and the harbour bars. We’ve eaten at both, and the food was excellent with generous portions. The staff were attentive and helpful, and we got a warm welcome. It’s very dog friendly too. We’ll be back!

The steak pie is well worth recommending, and the food was delicious with a good choice of drinks. It was busy when I came in with the family, which was nice to see. The younger lad was cheerful and always ready to help. Service from the two women was disappointing, though. The younger one with ginger hair was quite blunt and didn’t seem happy to be there, while the older woman, who I can only assume was the manager, never smiled.

The breakfast was tasty and the location was good, but the rest of the stay was very poor. The rooms, furniture, bathroom and plumbing all need attention, and most of the things listed on booking.com weren’t provided. They overcharge and ask for an extra £200 deposit, which they keep for a week after checkout. I certainly won’t stay here again.

The owner was friendly and very hospitable, and breakfast was huge, with great coffee. The rooms are above a lovely, typically Scottish bar and restaurant with a fireplace. Our bed was brand new, and the rooms are being refurbished. A perfect spot for a night in Troon, right opposite the ferry terminal.
