Maryann and her partner were so warm and looked after me brilliantly. That friendliness really matters to me, and the huge collection of books added a lot to the feel of the place. It was peaceful and quiet, too. Eastbrook Cottage is fairly easy to reach and sits beside a main road, so if your GPS sends you down a quiet farm lane like mine did, you're heading the wrong way. I'd happily stay again if I'm back in the area.

I was really disappointed. There was no shower or cooking equipment, the Wi-Fi was absent, and the TV reception was awful. You stay in someone's home alongside them, even sharing the sofa, and you may also have to share with strangers. In the family rooms that could feel especially awkward, since the rooms are separated only by the shared bathroom. The staff were rude when we arrived, and it seemed to be because we were workers. This wasn't what I expected at all.

The room was cosy and looked out across the farm. Breakfast was good, with eggs freshly gathered there, and the owner made us feel very welcome.

A friendly, uncomplicated welcome and a comfortable stay. There were dogs, horses and chickens nearby, too. I'd be glad to come back.
