We expected more after reading the good reviews. The old-fashioned feel of the floor gives a nice sense of the place's history, but that impression disappeared once we got to our room. The teaspoons still had old tea or coffee on them, and the bed was pretty uncomfortable.

The owner made the stay feel special, so kind and welcoming. The room and bed were really comfortable too. It’s a lovely traditional English hotel, and a real credit to the people who keep it going. If you need somewhere to stay, I’m sure you’ll be happy here.

I hope Siobhan is there whenever I visit The Balmoral. She welcomed me with a smile and said I could ask her anything, any time. She also took the time to explain the hotel and its facilities, then pointed out the nearest nice pub. Thanks for being so lovely.

The beds were comfortable and the place was cozy enough, with reasonably friendly people. Breakfast could use a request and choice menu, since we didn't realise we had to say the night before. The shower kept changing between hot and cold and needs updating.

Had such a comfortable stay that I didn't want it to end. Siobhan was super polite and helpful, as were the cleaning staff. Brilliant place, and I'd definitely recommend it.
