Garras Barn

Getting there is easier if you search the property's name in maps, since the postcode doesn't take you to the house. Once there, it was a peaceful escape from the city, with a spacious home and a lovely garden that's great for BBQs. A good base for visiting Cornwall if you enjoy farm life and being close to the animals.

Harold was a wonderful host, and we'll definitely stay at Garras again on our next Cornwall visit. The working farm is reached by narrow Cornish lanes, so watch for the B&B signs near the end, though Truro is only a couple of miles away. We had a really enjoyable three-night stay. The room and bathroom were spotless, and the king bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast included a good choice of cereals and great coffee, plus a delicious, generous full English cooked just right by Harold. It kept us going until evening.

We had a lovely, peaceful time in what was probably the best cottage I've visited. The tricky bit is the road in, which could be difficult in a car or another vehicle without much ground clearance. I'd also suggest replacing the TVs with newer ones. Thank you.

We slept right through until 7 am, even with this being a working farm, and came away feeling totally recharged. It's very quiet, and the accommodation is clean and recently built. The cooked breakfast was amazing. The lanes are bumpy on the way in, but the location puts lots of great places within reach. It's especially worth a visit if you like wildlife, and the night sky is lovely to look at too.
