We had another fabulous two weeks in Portscatho, and The Ketch is a great place to stay, with amazing apartment views. The bed was extremely comfortable and everything else was fab, so we’ll definitely book again next year. A couple of things could be improved. The sofa was really uncomfortable for the occasional evening we got back early. The Ketch’s outdoor area wasn’t usable, with a tiny rusty table and chairs, dead little bushes and very little space. Friends who live in Cornwall visited for the day, and later we sat outside on the adjoining homeowner’s patio. We didn’t feel we could barbecue or sit there another day.

The view was lovely, but the place felt worn and could use a refresh and new appliances. The washing machine was rusty, and there weren’t many cooking utensils or mixing bowls. I also learned the garden is shared with other holiday guests. You have to take the dogs out on a lead, and it isn’t your own private garden like the photo seemed to show.

The sea view and location are great, but the decor and facilities feel worn and dated and need some care. With a few improvements, this would be a good little spot.
