The Victoria Inn

We were all impressed with this midweek lunch. The Victoria Inn is just off the A30 at Threemilestone, before Truro, and getting there from Newquay took a little over 20 minutes. Finding a full carvery at lunchtime, 12-2pm, during the week can be difficult, so it's worth booking if that's what you're after. The food, portions, flavour and service were far better than the Toby Carvery we usually go to. There were three well-cooked roast meats and seven vegetables. The red cabbage with cinnamon, apple juice and brown sugar showed real attention to detail. The roast potatoes were crisp outside and fluffy inside, the parsnips were tender, and the sprouts, mashed swede, Yorkshire puddings and stuffing were all splendid. When the cabbage and carrots and cauliflower cheese ran out, they brought my wife her own serving to the table. The four of us agreed we hadn't found a carvery of this standard for a midweek lunch back home in the Midlands. Desserts were a lovely finish too: homemade syrup sponge, apple pie with custard, and my favourite, a light, creamy lemon-tasting cheesecake with a soft oat base and honey drizzle. Five stars from four very happy customers.
