The little garden was a lovely spot for sunrise or sunset, and there are great walks nearby. The holiday home is comfortable, newly redecorated and conveniently located.

We spent four days here in November 2022, and it made a cosy base for exploring the island. The cottage is lovely and quite remote, with beautiful scenery around it. We climbed Snowdon one day and went for a coastal walk the next. There are plenty of maps and information leaflets at the property to help you plan days out, and the nearby beach sounds especially appealing in warmer weather. It had everything we needed to cook a family meal, plus a washing machine. The local shop is within walking distance if you run short of anything, and sells logs for the burner too. There’s also a pub and café in the village, both walkable. We did buy wood at the shop, but sadly didn’t have the time or energy to make it to the pub. The log burner kept us warm, and there was other heating available if needed, though we didn’t use it. We’ve found a little gem and will definitely return.
For nightscape photos, there’s a trig point about 200 yards from the Gatehouse that makes a great foreground. The Church in the Sea is half a mile down the road and works perfectly for sunset photography. We arrived during Storm Dennis, but the roof held up without any problems. The cottage is cosy and quiet, set in a remote spot that’s well placed for coastal attractions and exploring Anglesey. Nowhere feels too far away. A lovely place for a landscape photographer.
The Gatehouse has everything you need for a comfortable stay, tucked away from the village but still close enough to walk to the shop or pub. We’ve been delighted with the accommodation each of the last four years, and the whole place is spotlessly clean. Mr Owens and his wife go out of their way to make guests feel welcome, with a welcome pack and a friendly chat when handing over the keys. We’d happily recommend it and will be back. I’ve stayed here three times. This little cottage has everything you need, and the wood-burning stove is a lovely extra. A lovely place to stay.
