Best Western Glenridding

After a very wet night camping on a hiking trip around the Hellvelen area, I booked a room at the last minute and was glad I did. It was £140 for the night, including the extra charge for my dog. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and it had everything you’d expect. The hotel was very nice, and for that price I don’t think you could go wrong. The pub was clean too, the staff were friendly, and the food was good. The views around the area are fantastic. Honestly, it would be hard to find better for the money.

The breakfast buffet had a good spread of cereals, yoghurt and the usual hot options. Dinner was nicely presented and well cooked, and there was a decent drinks choice, though only one hand-pulled beer. We had a great one-night winter break. Our room was clean, warm and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The bar got busy early in the evening, so the advice at check-in about when to come down to avoid a long wait for food was useful. We’d happily return.

The friendliness of the staff really made this stay for me. Check-in and check-out were easy, and I had dinner there both nights. The food was great, too. My room was spacious, with a comfortable bed and stunning views. I’ve just finished two nights and can’t wait to come back.

We came for a midweek birthday break and were blown away by the meals and generous portions. The service was second to none, and every member of staff was pleasant and helpful. Our double room with a view was spacious, well equipped, warm and cosy. We’ll definitely return, and we’re keen to try other places in the Inn Collection as well. Well done, Ullswater inn.
