The only small drawback was having no parking on site. There’s a public car park about 30 seconds from the front door, with reasonable rates for a full day or longer, but bring plenty of £1 coins. The card reader didn’t work during the four days I was there. Inside, the apartment is finished to a high standard and has everything needed for a break in the southern Lake District. I slept really well in the comfortable bed, and the bedroom stayed cool despite the outdoor temperatures being in the 20s °C. Noise from the neighbouring apartments and street traffic was minimal.

There was plenty to do nearby, from climbing the monument less than a mile away to a boat trip at Bowness. We also went up Hough Fell, about half an hour away, and took a ride on the Hatherthwaite steam railway, roughly 6 miles from the apartment. The apartment itself was beautiful and clean, and being near the shops and restaurants was lovely. We made the most of our trip.

The barn was beautifully furnished, with loads of space and a well-equipped kitchen. It was spotless when we arrived, too. We had a lovely family break with our children and friends, and would definitely recommend it.

The website said toiletries were included, but there weren’t any at first. We were told it was an oversight, though we only ended up with soap. Bath sheets would have been nicer than a standard towel, especially at the nightly price. I also could have used some instructions for the cooker. The accommodation was lovely, with tasteful furnishings, a big comfortable bed and a well-equipped kitchen. It’s very handy for the town centre.
