Feeding the alpacas was the best part for us. They’re so gentle and calming, and it was lovely to spend time with them. Carol and Mark clearly care for them as family, not as props for visitors. They also shared stories about the land, how they came to have the alpacas, and the ones they’ve sadly lost. We had a delicious afternoon tea made with ingredients grown on the grounds, and the sunny weather made the whole visit even nicer. Carol and Mark were warm hosts, and we enjoyed chatting with them. The place felt peaceful from the moment we arrived. A really memorable afternoon on beautiful grounds, and well worth it if you’re after something tranquil and different.

The girls haven’t stopped telling people about our afternoon. My two five-year-old granddaughters and I had a real treat, with a chance to feed the friendly alpacas. Mark first gave us a very good introduction to the region’s geography and history, as well as alpaca care. Carol looked after us wonderfully, and her tea was absolutely sumptuous. It was a lovely, memorable day.

The alpacas were gentle and mischievous, and the afternoon tea was delicious, especially the courgette cake and scones. We also found lots of unusual things in the gift shop, including bracelets made from alpaca wool. There were 11 of us, ranging in age from 20 to 84. We were welcomed warmly, then heard some interesting history about the area and how the group of alpacas came to be. Thank you for such a lovely afternoon.

This was our third visit to Bewl Rookery, this time with my nephew and his family, and it was a wonderful afternoon. The alpacas charmed the adults and all four children, who were between 9 and 18. Mark’s introductory chat is always interesting, and Carol’s tea is just as good as ever. With such a warm welcome, it was an ideal way for everyone to unwind from the stresses of everyday life.

The alpaca pod was great, and feeding and meeting the alpacas made for a lovely afternoon. We really enjoyed the tea too. Thanks for a wonderful time. -x-
