The staff were incredible throughout our visit, and nothing seemed too much trouble. The location worked perfectly for our family gathering, when lots of us needed rooms at the same hotel. The rooms were good, though we found a few temperature issues: some ground-floor rooms were like ovens, while the top floor was cold. The food was great and very reasonably priced.

At The Holmfield Arms, the service made a real impression on me. The staff member was welcoming and attentive all evening, and stayed completely on top of things even as the venue got busy. Drinks were just right and came remarkably quickly. Everyone handled requests with a calm, friendly manner that made it seem like they really enjoy their work. It’s rare for one staff member to lift the atmosphere of a place so much.

The rooms were clean, the staff helpful and breakfast was great. We were given a disabled room, and the bathroom floor felt spongy in places. That could be awkward for anyone who isn’t very steady on their feet.

We came from Wales to see family for the weekend in December 2025. The place looked really nice, and the rooms were clean and spacious. Staff were friendly and always ready to help. Breakfast was amazing too.

The beds were comfortable and the shower stayed hot. We rented two rooms, both clean, spacious and tidy, though the bathrooms looked a little dated. We were coming back from a day in York and wanted somewhere a bit closer to home. It was still a 2.5 hour drive, but the stay was great value.
