The Mercury

They have live artists every Friday. Last week Stuart David was really good, sounding like Barry Gibb and hitting those high notes. Good entertainment.

Thanks to the staff for being so kind today. And thank you, VANDA.

Vicky at reception was lovely and friendly, and the butty van outside was really nice. The rooms were fine, comfortable enough, and in a perfect location.

The Mercury gave us what we needed for a short stay in Westhoughton, at a very reasonable price for two. We visited on 11 August 2023. It's a budget hotel, and the room was what I expected. The bed was comfortable, the linen clean, and the bathroom was okay with a shower that worked as it should. I didn't spot any damp in the bedroom or bathroom. There was a TV and the room Wi-Fi worked well enough for me to work from there. We asked for a drink and the receptionist opened the bar for us, even though it normally wouldn't open for another hour and a half. We appreciated that. The drinks were good for the price, two pints of lager and a G&T, and we were happy with them. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. I emailed to ask for early check-in, which they arranged for a small extra charge that was worth it since we arrived very early. Tip: use the email address on their website instead of the contact form. The Mercury isn't the Ritz, but it met our expectations and I couldn't fault the staff. I'd stay there again if I was back in Westhoughton.
