The sofa bed was awful, and the owners’ Alsatian barked through the night, so we barely slept. We were only inside the accommodation for about eight hours, yet paid a premium price. When a friend needed to sleep on the floor because the weather at a local festival was terrible, the owner charged us a huge extra amount, even though we didn’t need any extra towels, bedding, mugs or cutlery. We later learned the owner had been watching the CCTV, which felt unsettling and unusual. At 9am, an hour before checkout, the owner came to our door with the extra charges and parked behind our car so we couldn’t leave until we paid. I’ve never felt more intimidated or uncomfortable in booked accommodation anywhere in the UK or abroad. A really awful stay, and I wouldn’t recommend it.
