After a wedding, we stayed with some friends, and the welcome was so warm and helpful. They even said we could come down in our pyjamas and head back to bed if we wanted. The bed was extremely comfy and breakfast was delicious. Such a great, rustic, friendly B&B. I can't recommend it enough.

We arrived around 9pm, and I asked whether there might be anything to eat. The family who run the place shared their roast lamb dinner with us, and it was brilliant. They didn't even expect payment. Breakfast was good too, and they were polite and welcoming the whole time. We were surprised by how good a place it was, especially at such short notice and for less than almost all the other local hotels.

After a long drive, I couldn't have asked for a more relaxing welcome. They even had beers for us on arrival. The huge breakfast was included and served in a stunning room. The room and beds were clean and comfortable, and the place felt more historic than I expected. Superb.

The hosts are very friendly, honest and plain-spoken, and the breakfast was nice. This is a lovely old-fashioned farmhouse B&B in a very rural spot if that's the English countryside you're after. My room was clean, well proportioned and furnished with lovely antique furniture. The bathroom was large, with a separate shower and bath, and the bath comfortably fits two average-sized adults. The bedding and linen were clean, the linen pressed, and there were lots of towels, plus tea and coffee facilities. For what I paid, it was excellent value. I knew it was a B&B rather than a hotel, but some people may expect things hotels often have, like room service, a bar or laundry. My one suggestion is to put some herbal tea in the room. A caffeine-free cup at night would be nice.

Hosts Rob and Sarah have made a characterful, comfortable home in a place that's off the beaten track in more ways than one. My wife-to-be and I booked a weekend away, and this place felt like a real home from home, with its own distinctive style. It's such a find, and we'll definitely return. I'd recommend it to anyone who prefers this kind of individual place to the dull, impersonal feel of Travel Lodge or Holiday Inn.
