We’ve stayed at Tarras a few times and can thoroughly recommend it. The owners are welcoming without being intrusive, and they’re there if you need anything. The spacious rooms are lovely, spotlessly clean and comfortable, as is the whole property. Every stay has been a pleasure. Breakfast is served when you ask for it. It’s continental, and a great start to the day, with various goodies in the fridge. There are lovely walks nearby, and it’s easy to get to a local town and supermarket. Fast food can also be ordered for delivery. A super place, 10/10.

A quiet, homely place to stop on my travels, with lovely country views and easy access from the highway. Andy and Helen were great hosts and made my short stay feel warm and welcoming. The room was sparkling clean, and all the facilities were top-notch.

We booked Tarras for our MD, who came back very pleased with the large, clean room, the friendly host and the beautiful hamlet setting. He has high standards, so the praise is well deserved. We’ve now added it to our approved accommodation list.

Helen and Andy are very welcoming, and the room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Even in warm weather, a ceiling fan kept it cool. The setting is quiet and feels like the middle of nowhere, but Bishop Stortford and Stanstead are only minutes away. Update February 2022: still just as good, with the same team looking after you. Update August 2022: still as good as ever.

We went away for a night to celebrate my partner’s 5th anniversary. It was a really pleasant stay, with an amazing room, comfy beds and a quiet area. The owners were friendly and helpful. We wished we could have stayed longer than one night. Highly recommend.
