Being able to explore Wareham on foot is a real plus. The Saturday market is just around the corner, and the river makes for a lovely circular stroll. If you’re lucky, you might spot a seal or kingfisher. For arriving by water, we recommend contacting Powerboat Club UK about a boat trip from Poole. Afterwards, The Granary is a nice riverside spot for a drink. The chocolate cake at The Bear on the High Street may be the best I’ve ever had, and there’s a cosy open fire at the back for cooler days. The Priory Hotel has been a special place for several occasions over the years, and we love bringing friends and family. Our friends from Spain were enchanted by the ducks wandering over the lawn and the expansive gardens. I’ve also treated my mum to afternoon tea on the lawn in summer. On our latest visit, my aunt and uncle were visiting from Norfolk, and it was once again a perfect place to spend time together. One visit I’ll never forget was staying in the Kingfisher Boathouse Suite. We arrived by boat at the end of the garden, and the peaceful, beautiful moment felt like stepping into a childhood dream. The suite made it even more special, with elegant interiors, a huge bathtub and a quiet outlook over the river. Honestly, it’s wedding-night worthy. I loved having binoculars in the room to look over the river and fields, where you can sometimes see deer grazing in the distance. There are so many lovely spaces here. The summer gardens are glorious, and the restaurant has historic beams and a warm atmosphere. Cristian is always friendly and attentive, and being remembered and made to feel welcome each time really matters. The Priory Hotel is somewhere we always look forward to returning to.

The meal was excellent, and the friendly, thoughtful restaurant staff made the evening memorable. A pianist played in the drawing room, and it felt like we had a private concert. The sommelier was kind, generous, helpful and knowledgeable. Thank you for a lovely dinner at The Priory.

A few friends and I went to a wine tasting in the priory Bar on 6th February, and had an amazing time. Christian, the sommelier, was very knowledgeable and attentive. The food served with each wine was exquisite. We’ll definitely recommend this great evening.

Our son treated us to Sunday lunch at the Priory, and we weren’t disappointed. The food and service were superb. Norman, our waiter, is a real asset, and Anna, Adrian and Ben all looked after us so well. Thank you.

The Priory was a magical place to celebrate our engagement. Christian and AJ made the occasion feel truly special with their thoughtful, attentive and genuine service. Everything, from the champagne through to the final moments, was handled with care. The beautiful setting and incredible food made it perfect for such an important time in our lives. We’ll always treasure our visit and highly recommend it.
