We live in the village and hope people give Canyon Cookhouse a try. The new menu clearly has had a lot of thought and effort put into it, and the food is far better than what was here before. We’ve particularly enjoyed the smoked meats and chicken wings, and tried the burgers and pizzas last night for the first time. They were amazing, with one of the best pizzas we’ve ever had. There’s a good range on the menu, and the restaurant is excellent.

The beer was well kept and the service was great. There’s plenty of music to choose from, which was wonderful. The menu leans pretty heavily toward meat, though, a bit of a young man’s game!

We were 12 tired cyclists who turned up without warning on a sunny Sunday afternoon. There wasn’t any food on, but they let us get pizza from across the road and enjoy it in the garden with our drinks. Friendly place, and a nice beer garden.

The landlady was a great, friendly and chatty host, and the locals were welcoming too. The bar had a very good atmosphere and a number of ales from smaller breweries. We came for a business conference at British motor museum, about a 10-minute drive away. There was no food available while we were there, but local takeaways are close by, so that wasn’t a problem for me. I booked two rooms at a very reasonable price. They were clean, though the decor looked a bit tired; tea, coffee and a kettle were provided, the TV was good and the beds were comfy. I was satisfied, keeping the value in mind when setting expectations. I’d stay again and recommend it, especially for the price.
