Rock Inn

We were on holiday nearby and found the Rock Inn while looking up pubs. We booked a table online and got confirmation, then walked there so we could have a couple of drinks with dinner. But when we arrived, it was dark and clearly closed. Nobody answered when we called. We had to walk back to our accommodation and look for somewhere to eat on a Friday night. Not happy 😕.

We went back for dinner after loving the vegetable dumplings so much, and tried more of the menu. We hadn't stayed at the hotel. The food was excellent, the service good, and the children's meals were really good value. Highly recommended.

The food was beyond delicious, and surprisingly inexpensive. I’ve eaten at some very fancy, costly places that couldn’t hope to match the cooking at the Rock Inn. The hosts, who were from Ceylon, were very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, small but comfortable. The electric light in the shower room wasn't working, so they provided a battery light. Along with the creaky toilet door, that added to the old building’s charm. It feels miles from civilization, tucked well off the beaten track and quite isolated. The place deserves to thrive, though it must have been easier in its heyday.

We drove there and back for nothing. We’d booked a table online, but when we arrived the place was shut, and another couple turned up after us too. The doorbell was off, and the contact number went straight to voicemail. Very unhappy. Avoid this place!!!!
