The location worked well, and there’s a pleasant park about a 10-minute walk away. I ate with family, so I can’t say what food options are nearby. My room was clean and had a fridge, microwave, and tea and coffee, though the milk was UHT cartons despite the fridge. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were an awkward thickness: one felt too little and two were too many. The compact bathroom was usable, with a shower only. A ceiling spotlight over the shower kept flickering while I was in there, which was a bit concerning. Getting checked in was a faff because the place is unmanned and I had to email a redacted photo of my driving licence. I’d booked the “presidential suite”, though I’m not sure what was presidential about it. Reaching it meant climbing two sets of stairs and going through what seemed like an unnecessary landing door to rooms 14 & 15, which was difficult with bags.

The beds could be a bit longer for someone tall like me, but I really enjoyed my stay. The entrance and room both use unique codes, and there was a personalised message waiting when I walked into my room, a small touch that makes a difference. It’s a modern, slick hotel, and the rooms have everything you need. I’d say it deserves more than 3 stars. 10/10, I’d highly recommend it.

Room 17 has its own access and a balcony at the back, which I loved, so I’d ask for it again. The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in, and the pillows were superb. There was plenty of parking, and it’s a two-minute walk into town, although there wasn’t much happening there in the evening. The room had everything I needed for an overnight work stay. Instant coffee was the one thing I’d have liked to see improved for a boutique hotel. I stayed one night as a solo traveller and would definitely come back if I’m in the area.

The rooms are really clean and have all the basics covered, with a fridge, microwave, crockery and cutlery.

I felt safe the whole time, even though the Boutique isn’t staffed, and it was quiet over the weekend. The general manager, Jay, was reachable on WhatsApp if I needed anything. I was on a four-night business trip by myself, and my room was spacious with a very comfortable bed. Entry to every room was by code. Town is no more than a minute’s walk away, and I’d definitely recommend staying here.
