We've stayed here a few times and the staff have always been polite and helpful. The rooms are cosy and decent, and the place has a lush feel, a great vibe and brilliant service. This time we tried the food. My wife's burger was overcooked, dry, acrid tasting and short on seasoning. I suspect the charcoal grill needed scraping. A dressed side salad would also have been a nice touch. My beef chilli was okay and had some aromatic flavour with a little heat, but it lacked seasoning too. It came in the same bowl as the rice, and with no sauce the whole thing turned watery. I'd suggest adding some of the tomato sauce from the pasta dish on the menu and tossing the beef with spices. There's so much local produce around that this could be an awesome foodie pub.

The staff were welcoming and friendly during our overnight stay, and the room was small but adequate. The full English breakfast was very good. We skipped eating in the pub because it was busy. The room is why we probably won't come back: the bathroom had a cracked, broken sink, mould around the bath seal, a broken towel rail and rust stains on the floor. The mattress and pillows also need upgrading.

Henry was a gem, and the rest of the staff were lovely too. We had a wonderful stay this weekend, with comfortable rooms and really, really good food. The location is amazing. We'd love to return.

We stayed at the White Hart while visiting Wells, and the room was clean and comfortable. The staff made us feel welcome and were friendly. Its town-centre location is great, close to everything, with Wells cathedral right on the doorstep.

Set in Wells' beautiful old city, this is a gorgeous pub and inn with a lovely setting. The staff are very friendly and there's a great choice of drinks. Couldn't recommend it more.
