It's a quaint, cosy place with a lovely warm feel throughout, and the rooms are clean, tidy and very comfortable. David and Colin were attentive, caring hosts, and helped us when we got a little lost on the way. Extra points for their adorable dogs Chester and Alfie. We'll definitely come back next time we're in Whitby.

We chose Bagshawes of Whitby for two nights in town to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday. David and Colin were brilliant from the moment we arrived. Once they heard about the occasion, they sent a birthday card with good wishes up to our room within minutes. They also surprised my wife with a bottle of Prosecco on our second day. The room was lovely, plush and spotless, and the building felt secure. Walking in, we found one of the most beautiful, homely places I've ever seen, full of clocks. Breakfast and service were first class, with a glorious, hearty full English, and David and Colin made sure we had everything we needed. They're the best hosts my wife and I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Thank you both for a fabulous stay. We highly recommend Bagshawes to anyone visiting Whitby who wants to feel relaxed and cosy. We wouldn't hesitate to return when we get the chance. Regards, Eric & Tracey Leach.

The rooms were spotless and comfortable, and breakfast was fantastic, cooked to order. From the information before arrival to the welcome at check-in, everything was just right. David and Colin are wonderful hosts and should be very proud of what they've achieved. If you're after a quiet, comfortable, truly professional place in central Whitby, you won't be disappointed. Most places have something that could be improved, and some would be better off closed, but it's rare to find somewhere as faultless as Bagshawes.

We felt like we were staying in friends' home, not a guest house. The two hosts are great, and made breakfast entertaining with their amazing stories. They even showed us around their own accommodation and explained how they'd restored the house. Everything is top class, and we can't praise it highly enough. 12 out of 10.

The breakfast was scrumptious, and the hotel made for a lovely, relaxing weekend. It's central, and our room was very spacious and luxurious, with a king size bed, sofa, TV, free Wi-Fi and en-suite. Colin and his partner can tell you about the place's history. We'll be back, it's fantastic.
