La Rosa Hotel

We stayed for three nights for our anniversary, and the staff looked after us so well. They were all lovely and welcoming, and John, the hotel dog, even let us pet him. Our room had a bath, a comfy queen, maybe king, bed, and a seafront view of the harbour, the steps and the Abbey. Breakfast delivered to the door was a lovely way to wake up. The hotel is beautifully decorated, with each room themed and full of character. Parking right out front was a big help, and there are loads of places nearby for lil bits, with a very short walk into Whitby centre. It's fab, fantastic and a true gem. I could say lots more, but thank you to the team for making the holiday so magical.

The views were fantastic, the staff friendly, and the surroundings funky. Everything was a short walk away, and parking was arranged on the street outside the hotel. There isn't a lift, so bear that in mind if mobility is a concern. The downstairs “cocktail library” has a delicious selection of drinks, and if you're lucky you'll meet John, the friendly hotel dog. We had an incredible five-star stay visiting Whitby and will return and recommend it.

We felt right at home here for a weekend in Whitby. It's a quirky, fiercely independent hotel, with extremely friendly staff and owners who are helpful, charming and have a cracking sense of humour. The style and taste were such a welcome change from the bland, identical hotels you so often find. Breakfast was a buffet served on antique plates in a room with a stunning view, and vegans were very well catered for with advance notice. Freshly laid leopard print carpet makes the place feel fun and hedonistic. There are no TVs in the rooms, but the WiFi is speedy throughout. We'll be back in a heartbeat. Little Red is for one person only, so if there are two of you, you'll need a bigger room. The continental breakfast comes in a bag with the essentials, and surprisingly it's enough for the morning. We loved the cocktails in the cocktail lounge. This quirky hotel is full of character, with themed rooms and lots of odd details in the decor. It's an experience in itself, with great service, and a welcome change from bland, ordinary hotels. Dogs are more than welcome. Well worth a visit.
