The Riviera Guest House

Breakfast came in a bright, airy room, with a wide range of choices. The rooms are thoughtfully fitted out, and each has a folder of local tips, with even more information on the website. This family-run guesthouse is in a great spot, and everyone was friendly and helpful. We’ve stayed at The Riviera before and found it very comfortable. We’ll be back, and would gladly recommend it to anyone visiting Whitby.

The cooked breakfast was excellent, especially the bacon, and ordering it through the reception ballot box was a clever touch. There’s also self-service coffee and toast. My sea-view room was up eight flights of stairs, but the bed was very comfortable, and the in-room folder covered just about everything. The place is immaculate, with maps and historical details on the walls, along with information promoting the family who run it. They’ve clearly put years of hard work into making it run so smoothly. If you don’t need a lift, it’d be hard to find a better stay in Whitby.

This was our second visit to this welcoming guest house. The room was spacious and nicely furnished, with everything we needed, and breakfast was delicious. It’s in a great position, with lovely views of the sea. Thanks, Zed and Emma. We’ll definitely return.

Emma, Zed and the rest of the staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. We stayed three nights in room 2, where the big bay window gave us a fantastic view. There was plenty of storage, the bed was comfortable, and a great breakfast was included in the price.
