We went for Sunday lunch and had plenty of very nice food. It's a great local pub, and the staff were friendly and glad to help. Couldn't fault the meal or the service.

The roast itself was very good, especially the meat, potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. The cabbage and carrots were mushy and overcooked, though. We had to add the other sides separately: cauliflower cheese cost another £2.50, and the stuffing balls were another £2.50. We were told they were homemade, but when they arrived in a pot it was obvious the packet mix hadn't even been mixed properly.

The location was ideal for my visit, and breakfast had a fabulous selection with fantastic service. The pub hotel has spacious, nice rooms and some stunning furniture. It's an older building with great features that add to its charm. The friendly service ran from reception through to breakfast.

2/10
At a four-star place, I'd at least expect a decent bed. The hot tap in the sink didn't work, the bathroom floor moved underfoot, and the mirror was oddly high. The pillows were horrible and cheap, and the mattress was thin and springy.

A warm, welcoming pub with good people and great staff. The beer is very well kept, and the food and drink prices are good. It feels homely.
