The building is dated, but the hotel was clean, and I had a great night’s sleep thanks to the bed, linen and pillows. Check-in went smoothly. The lady at reception was lovely, and Shaun, serving breakfast, was cheerful and kept busy making sure everyone was happy. We were on the third floor, where there was no mobile signal. The hotel WiFi barely reached and kept dropping in and out, so it could do with a booster or amplifier. Still, it’s a great place.

The main downside is the position: it’s on a hill at the edge of town, so walking the mile or more into town takes a reasonable level of fitness. Parking is very difficult too. The hotel itself is old but well looked after, with clean, good-sized rooms and friendly, helpful staff. The menu is limited, but the food is well cooked and always hot. A first class three star hotel.

We only spent one night, but I loved the building’s classic charm. The rooms were warm, the beds comfortable, and the staff fantastic. Breakfast was absolutely gorgeous.

The food was nice and the staff and service were lovely. My main gripe was the WiFi on the third floor, which was almost unusable and sometimes cut out completely. They should invest in a router or something.

Part of the alfa Holiday group, this hotel was nice, clean and tidy, and the staff were very nice. The food can be a bit overdone, but otherwise it was okay. I’d come back.
