We were staying at Oakover View guest house, directly opposite the Bear in, and went in for a drink on our last night. The bar lady welcomed us and served us straight away. It’s in a great location, and they have a few singers coming up for entertainment.

For the cheapest place in the area, it was okay, and I slept well. Don’t expect anything modern. I was put off when a female staff member belched in my face twice, which wasn’t pleasant. Weston-Supermare itself seemed like quite a nice, tidy place.

If you want an authentic Inn feel, don’t hesitate to book. It’s a bit rough around the edges, which I liked, though it won’t suit anyone precious about that sort of thing. The room was tidy and the staff welcoming. I figured this little place was a better choice than paying double for Premier Inn, and I was right.

They were fully booked, but The Bear and its owners still kindly helped us find somewhere else to stay. We stopped in for a much-needed, welcoming drink. Such a warm welcome, and I’d recommend them to anyone visiting.

They provide water and snacks to keep dogs entertained while you enjoy a drink. It’s close to the beach, too. Great location, and we’ll be back!
