The Milton Lodge

The place is peaceful at night, even with the windows open, and there’s an interesting cemetery less than five minutes away on foot. Parking was fine, and most local amenities were only a short walk or quick drive away. We had two roomy, beautifully clean rooms for the three of us, plus a comfy sitting area. Tea and coffee were provided in the rooms, and breakfast was continental style. The proprietors were welcoming and helpful without any fuss. We had a lovely stay, thanks, and would highly recommend it.

Room 2 was amazing, with loads of storage, everything we needed for a break, and an excellent en-suite. Paul showed us around the other rooms too, and they looked just as good. We got there early and Paul and Wendy welcomed us warmly, checked us in straight away, and offered us a nice cold beer. One of the nicest guest houses we’ve stayed in. We’ll definitely come back, and stay longer next time.

We really enjoyed our stay and would come back. The Victorian house is comfortable, nicely furnished and very clean, in a good location. It felt a little cold on the first day, but, well, that’s England! Wendy and Tom were friendly and happy to help with what we needed.

We stayed for Armed Forces weekend 2022, Dad and me. It’s a great spot, away from the seafront so it stays lovely and quiet, with plenty of cafes along the way into town. They made us feel like family. The rooms were perfectly adequate, with comfortable beds, tea and coffee, and a good-sized en-suite. The flat-screen TV worked with both Roku and Fire Sticks. Wi-Fi varied a lot, from 30 Mbps down to 1 Mbps, which slowed Google searches sometimes but didn’t disrupt streaming. There’s a small, useful parking area. The communal lounge is fantastic, with a record player, big TV and impressive B&W speakers. They’re doing a great job, and we felt we’d made the right choice.
