There’s a lovely bakery on the corner with great coffee and pastries, a nice breakfast treat. The seagulls were the one real downside, though. They were incredibly loud and called at all hours of the night. It was my first overnight stay in central Whitby, and I’d definitely bring earplugs if I came back. The cottage is clean, comfortable and well kept, and you could easily stay a week or longer. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped. There’s room in the living room to relax and play the many board games provided. Our children found them and played every minute we were in the cottage. It’s arranged over three floors: kitchen on the first, living room and bathroom on the second, and bedrooms on the third. Our week was very warm, over 25°C, so the top floor got quite hot. That can’t really be helped, but a fan in the bedrooms would make sleeping easier. We took the duvet off and slept under the sheets.

The house was well equipped and well situated for people who are able to manage it, but we were so upset that we had to cut our holiday short. The heating was controlled by the owners, and my husband, who has health issues, became ill because he was too cold. We weren’t offered any refund at all, which shocked us. If we’d known before booking that the radiators were controlled, we would never have booked. It really spoiled our holiday with our grandchildren. I wouldn’t recommend it to people with health issues.

Comfy, well appointed, and in a great spot for Whitby’s sights, pubs and restaurants.

The place was spotless and in a fantastic location. We booked another stay as soon as we got home.
