The restaurant has a beautiful building, plenty of space and nice big tables, so it’d work well for a larger group as well as a couple. There’s enough room for all the roast dishes and veg without the table feeling cramped. We had the Sunday roast lamb, which was fantastic, with generous portions and loads of meat. Great value for money. The staff and owners were friendly and made us feel very welcome. We’ll definitely be back.

We had a great time. They found room for our table of 16, and the food arrived extremely quickly and was very yummy. The staff shared beer and food recommendations and even provided Christmas crackers. The camembert and roasts were the highlights. Great service and amazing food!

We were left without a room after a hotel in Downton stood us up, but the landlord and lady made us feel welcome and comfortable as soon as we arrived. The room was lovely, with a quality bed and a well-kept bathroom. Breakfast was brilliant too, one of my wife’s favourite breakfasts to date. Our only regret is that we didn’t have time to come back for Sunday lunch. Fantastic place to stay.

We’ve eaten at The Kings Head three times now, and every visit has been wonderful. We chose it for a special family dinner because we expected something above standard pub grub for the occasion, and it delivered. Inside, the restaurant feels homely, with lovely tableware, linen napkins and superior, rustic decor. The staff are fantastic, knowledgeable, efficient and attentive. We haven’t tried the covered outdoor area, but it looks very welcoming for eating al fresco when it’s warm. We know we’ll enjoy choosing The Kings Head again and look forward to returning soon.

They overcharged me by £20 on my tab. I ordered lamb hot pot with vegetables, but there was barely any lamb or veg. The service was incredibly disappointing, and the waiter was rude and condescending. Overpriced. I don’t recommend it.
