We spent four days in Whitfield with a group of eight gentlemen, and the team at Elk's Head looked after us with real care. They gave us private space when we needed it and served the regional four-course dinner we’d requested. If you enjoy a traditional, cosy inn and good food, this is the place. The mix of local dishes, rustic surroundings and locals in the pub at night made for a magical atmosphere, and the chef can prepare high-end cuisine when needed. We’re looking forward to next year. Kieron made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived for Sunday lunch. We had the shin of Beef and Lamb, and both were amazing. The beef melted in your mouth, and the mash was delicious. Our little dog got plenty of fuss too and loved it. Definitely worth stopping in while travelling.

We stopped by on Boxing Day for a quick drink. The man behind the bar was really friendly, and the drinks were reasonably priced. It was very quiet when we visited, though I imagine it gets much busier in summer. We didn’t eat, but saw food brought out to a table and it looked great.

The team were brilliant when we dropped into the Elks head for Sunday lunch on our drive home from holiday. The food was amazing, especially the outstanding beef dinner. Such a lovely team.

After a long dog walk, we stopped in for food. The menu was a little limited, but everything was absolutely delicious. The shin of beef was fantastic, and the pub felt very welcoming. I’d recommend it.
