Paul was a lovely host, with useful suggestions for things to do in Whitley Bay. The room was nice, and breakfast was very good and generous. We chose the room based on the number of beds, without seeing which floor it was on, and ended up climbing five staircases. The host should mention this on the website to help guests with mobility issues.

We loved walking down to the beach. The location was great, and Paul was a brilliant, helpful host. We started our Hadrian's Wall walk here.

Paul was the highlight of our stay at The Metropolitan Guesthouse in Whitley Bay. He was so friendly and helpful, shared local recommendations, and kept us entertained at breakfast with his quick wit and cheerful banter. The breakfast was fresh, generous and delicious, with plenty of choice and a satisfying vegetarian option that felt properly thought through. The accommodation was cozy, clean and thoughtfully decorated, so we felt at home as soon as we arrived. It's also well placed for the beach, local shops and places to eat, all a short walk away. We found parking easily in nearby public areas. We'll definitely be back, thanks to Paul for making the trip memorable.

Paul was a lovely host and knew all the best local restaurants and places to see. We had a great two-night stay recently, with rooms decorated to a very high standard. Breakfast was freshly cooked and really good, especially the Metropolitan breakfast roll. I'd highly recommend the Metropolitan to everyone.

It had been four years since my first visit, but everything was still just as good on my second stay. From the booking phone call through arrival and departure, the service was five star, and breakfast was A1. That's a recommendation from an ex-chef with over 30 years' experience, so give the place a try, you won't be disappointed. Whitley Bay itself is lovely and peaceful too.
