The food next door was good, and I had a lovely stay. The hotel was clean and all the staff were amazing. Jackie at checkout was especially helpful, giving me directions so I could continue my trip.

The rooms are about a mile and a half outside town, so having a car is fine, but walking in for a drink is quite a long trek. The alternative is the Toby next door, which is reasonable. The walls between rooms are wafer thin. I could hear people talking on the phone and even their texts arriving. One staff member walked around at night talking loudly, banging and crashing as he worked. We called him Big Mouth John. I’m hard of hearing and he still woke me.

Jo made my stay really comfortable. She’s a star, so nice and welcoming, and helped me out with a personal delivery. She also gave me great recommendations for local food.

The staff were excellent and the location is lovely. The hotel itself feels a bit dated, though, and there were cobwebs all around our room.

I was in room 221, right next to a big fan system. It sounded like a rocket taking off all night, and I could hear people in the next room talking as if they were in mine. I got no sleep, then had a long drive.
