We loved soaking in the hot tub after long days walking on the moors, watching the evening sky while the friendly owners looked after it each day. The cottage had what we needed to cook, plus three different places to eat dinner. Beds were really comfy, the bathroom was spacious, and there was plenty of room indoors. The gardens were beautiful and well kept, which made the stay pleasant. It’s a handy base for exploring Dartmoor, although the main road is too dangerous to walk along for nearby routes. The nearest car park is just a short drive away, with walks to Mel Tor from there.

We had a warm welcome, and the homemade cream tea was a lovely extra. The views are awesome, and we got to feed the alpacas and do some bird spotting too. We saw a few birds we hadn’t come across before.

A small herd of alpacas is right outside, with beautiful views all around. The cottage is warm and cosy, and the beds are very comfortable. A lovely place in the heart of Dartmoor.

The lady who owned the place was so welcoming and made it feel homely. My late mother and I stayed here many times, and we always enjoyed our visits.
