The stay was easy thanks to the team at Wigan, and the rooms and service were great. Gill, our lovely waitress, explained the best way to pay for dinner since we’d prepaid for breakfast only, not the meal deal. Her colleague was on duty with her too, though I didn’t catch their name. Thanks to them both, and especially Gill.

The location worked well, within walking distance of the station and town centre. Staff were friendly, and breakfast was fine, nothing special. The room was clean, which was the main thing, though more basic and dated than other Premier Inns. The internet was very poor throughout the building. For the price, it was a good stay.

After travelling up and down the country and staying in lots of Premier Inns over the past two weeks, the ladies in Wigan really stood out. They were gracious, welcoming and friendly, and took care of everything I needed. When you’re travelling alone and away from home, arriving to smiles at your final stop makes a real difference. A special thank you to the two lovely ladies who made my stay and went the extra mile.

The rooms were fine, and both the staff and breakfast were great, but the booking system caused repeated problems. On Sunday night it showed us as having booked four rooms instead of two. The receptionist made a note, and we weren’t charged. On our second night, we were locked out of one room with many of our belongings inside because the system apparently said we’d checked out that morning, though we hadn’t. Luckily our things were still there and the room hadn’t been cleaned. The guest ahead of us had a similar issue the night before, with their rooms apparently booked three times instead of once, and they were charged. Driving to the hotel was confusing too, especially with part of the one-way system outside closed. I won’t return to this particular Premier Inn.

I loved the upgraded beds and the room was lovely and clean. I may have to get one of those beds myself. Will, the hotel manager, was really helpful when I checked in.
