Holiday Inn Leicester - Wigston by IHG

Krishna, the hotel manager, and his team made planning our daughter’s engagement party stress-free, from the booking through to the event. The hotel was clean and well kept, and they delivered the venue just as promised. The timing and organisation worked perfectly for us, so the day ran smoothly and our guests had a welcoming place to celebrate. We’d highly recommend the venue and team for a special event. 10/10.

The restaurant and lounge became our main hangout. They’ve been renovated, have lots of space, and the food was great. Service felt welcoming, breakfast was satisfying, and the front desk staff were very helpful. We stayed five nights in a standard room with my wife and teenage daughter. With the pull-out sofa open, it felt claustrophobic. Some outlets didn’t work, the hair dryer was broken, and there was no bathroom exhaust, so mold or mildew had formed on the ceiling. The location worked well for my business around Wigston and Oadby. If location doesn’t matter to you, the rooms at Holiday Inn City Centre are larger and cheaper.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the restaurant service was good. But we arrived to find no TV remote and the phone unplugged, so we couldn’t call reception. It was sorted out, though I didn’t want to spend 30 minutes going back and forth over it. At breakfast, I hope they can offer actual apple juice instead of that awful apple-flavoured water.

The noise was constant during my visit, and the room had no fridge or microwave, so I couldn’t keep drinks cold or warm up leftovers. My stay at the Holiday Inn Leicester was a letdown and not what I’d hoped for. Based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend it.
