Applegarth Villa JRs Restaurant

The bed was comfortable, and the pillows, towels, and linens were all very nice. We booked Luxury Room 4, which had a large king bed, room for our suitcases, a good view, and windows that opened. Our friends had room 5, where the windows didn't open. Since there's no air conditioning, airflow matters, so keep that in mind when booking. It's a lovely hotel in an adorable town. There's a nice bar and a restaurant on site, though plenty of other places to eat and drink are an easy walk away. Just be aware there's no elevator.

This was our twelfth stay at Applegarth, and once again the welcome, family atmosphere, and lovely staff made the whole visit a pleasure. We love dining at the Apple restaurant too, the food and service are five star. Well worth a visit, and we're already planning our next trip.

The staff were helpful, and Kevin kindly carried our luggage up to the rooms since there's no elevator. It's a family-run hotel with a cozy, classic interior. The breakfast lets you choose from a menu; it was decent, though the selection felt a little limited. I stayed last August during hot weather, and the room was too warm and uncomfortable. There's no air conditioning, so I wouldn't advise staying here in summer, especially in a heat wave. Personally, the lack of air conditioning and the somewhat old-fashioned rooms mean I wouldn't consider it a five-star hotel.

The Villa is only about half a block from the town centre, and it felt like a lovely, relaxing escape in a beautiful setting. I enjoyed sitting by the dining room window for breakfast and dinner. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with a good shower and tub. Kevin and Michelle are hands-on owners who make sure guests are looked after, and they were also great sources of ideas for planning the day. The property is beautiful and the service was excellent. I highly recommend staying here.
