The biggest letdown was the hot tub. We paid extra for it, but the hours were limited to 10am-10pm, it didn’t heat up until around 8:30pm for us, and its jets were faulty. I mentioned the jets to reception at least once a day, but they were never fixed. That left very little time to use it on the first day and none on the last, since checkout was by 10am. There was also lots of tree debris on the paths, decking and in the tub because trees overhang the lodge pitch. They blocked the sunlight and the lake view. The lodge itself was in a lovely spot, right on the edge of lake Windermere, with a good pub on site and a limited but tasty restaurant menu. WiFi was another problem. It kept cutting out despite repeated router resets, and reception staff even suggested turning off auto reconnect. The smart TV was just a monitor without internet, and the Freeview box only got about four channels with sound. The rest were silent or unavailable. Several people complained about the WiFi, but I didn’t feel staff took that, the hot tub or the location issues seriously. Avoid S4 Lodge.

I’ve been here many times and would return. It’s beautiful, right on the Lake itself, and clean and tidy. I only used the pool table, so I can’t comment on the other amenities. On a sunny day, fighter jets fly over and the lake gets busy, which is nice to watch.

We ate at the Willow pub with our dog, and the food was great. The pub is excellent, and the site is very dog friendly. The lodges are excellent too, in a great spot just a five-minute walk from town. This was our second visit, and it was just as good as last year.

A great place to stay, about a five-minute walk into bowness. The club is dog friendly.

There was so much to see and do, and our two nights went by far too quickly. The lodge was peaceful, with a fantastic view. I wish we could have stayed longer, but we’ll definitely go again.
