Storrs Hall Hotel

The lakeside setting was beautiful and quiet, and we had a super four night stay celebrating with friends. After dinner, we spent lovely evenings playing chess by the open fires with a late drink. This morning we even had a surprise breakfast visit from a falconer and his beautiful peregrine falcon. Everything was wonderful, and we’d certainly return.

We’ve stayed and dined at Storrs Hall many times and have always had exemplary service, so the way we were treated this evening was a real shock. In every other respect, Storrs Hall in Windermere is an exceptional hotel with a lovely atmosphere and high standards. But George was dismissive, unprofessional and openly discourteous. He brought our Pennington’s breakfast tea, Sticky Toffee Pudding and two cocktails to the table abruptly, with clear irritation and no basic courtesy. We felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. When we politely tried to ask him something, he said he was “extremely busy” and walked off without letting us finish. That was especially disappointing given the refined, attentive service guests reasonably expect here. I believe this incident was isolated, which made it all the more surprising after our consistently positive past visits. I wanted management to know so the matter could be looked into and his conduct addressed, and so this doesn’t happen to future guests. I hope this feedback is taken in the constructive spirit intended. We hold Storrs Hall in high regard and would like to keep enjoying the exceptional hospitality that has always set it apart.

Our micro wedding at Storrs Hall in March went smoothly, thanks especially to Izzy, who looked after the plans, and George, whose attentiveness and hospitality stood out. The hotel’s setting is stunning, and the interiors are beautiful too. The whole team was friendly, professional and exceptional, happy to handle our requests and even provide vegetarian choices beyond the menu. From our experience, I’d certainly recommend it as a venue for a small, intimate wedding.

After a lovely afternoon tea, we took a walk by the lake to settle the calories before heading off again. Booking was easy, with an email and a call back to confirm, and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The food was wonderful.
