We had such a relaxing time in the conservatory, looking out over Windermere, and the setting is gorgeous. The staff were welcoming and lovely. Afternoon tea was beautifully made, thoughtfully put together and just the right size, though you’ll probably leave with a doggy bag. It’s the best we’ve found in the Lakes, and worth every penny. The Whispering Tarn and Winter Thorn cocktails were both brilliant, so it’s worth treating yourself to one. Thanks to all the staff. We’ll be back as soon as we can.

We’ve visited a few times and like arriving early to enjoy the hotel’s elegant, peaceful surroundings. This time we tried the new bar menu in the more relaxed conservatory. Portions are larger, while the standards match their sister restaurant. Every dish was a hit, especially the Mushroom Pappardelle and Croissant Bread & Butter Pudding 😘. Such a memorable day, and we’re already looking forward to coming back.

We had the New Year’s Eve two-night tasting menu experience. The staff went above and beyond and the service was very, very good. The only person I didn’t gel with was the tall gent on reception. I found him rude on all three occasions I spoke with him, while everyone else was top notch. It’s a cute hotel with a good evening vibe. The beers were a bit naff, but wine and cocktails seemed to be their strength. The tasting menu was great. The first night was advertised as a three-course dinner, not a small tasting menu, so I was extremely hungry afterwards. The main event on NYE was fantastic, they really pulled out all the stops. Shout out to Tim (I think), who emailed our lake pass after I dropped it on a walk, so we could still take a cruise of over an hour around the lake. Would recommend.

The hotel is stunning, and service was tip top, but we ate in the bar and the chips with our meals were disgusting. Don’t order the battered fish and chips. The cod dish and mushroom dish were amazing instead.
