The breakfasts were superb, made with fresh local produce and lots of care, and we’d definitely return, hopefully in summer. My partner and I live fairly nearby and came for a few nights around Valentine’s, with a few days off work to unwind, relax and walk in the Lakes. The rooms were lovely, and the owners and staff made us feel welcome. It’s just outside Bowness-On-Windermere, around a 5-10 minute walk away. We can’t wait to come back.

The Victorian suite with its four poster bed was really nice, and the owners were a lovely couple who made us feel welcome and helped with whatever we needed. It’s about a 10 minute walk into Bowness, or a short taxi ride for a very reasonable £5.00. And breakfast at Storrs gatehouse was VERY nice. The cereal and full English were enough to finish me off, and the plumgart and bacon 🥓 were cooked to perfection. We’ll definitely return.

We had a fabulous stay, and the hosts were lovely, nothing was too much trouble. The room was very clean, had all the amenities, and the bed was comfy. There was plenty of parking, too. Breakfast was the best we’ve had, served in a cosy dining room overlooking the garden. A little gem, and we’ll definitely be back.

We’d been to the Lakes over 50 times over the years, but since the lovely couple we used to stay with in Windermere passed away, we’d tried several guest houses without finding anywhere we wanted to return to. Now we’re absolutely chuffed to have a place to come back to, and people we’re looking forward to seeing again. We came to celebrate our 30th anniversary, and Susann and Glenn’s beautiful house couldn’t have been more perfect. They made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived, as if we’d known them for years, and that feeling lasted throughout our stay. The rooms are immaculate and beautifully decorated, with lovely extras and so much attention to detail. Glenn’s breakfasts were amazing, with a delicious full English and plenty of tea, coffee and toast. I had fresh fruit and granola with yoghurt, also delicious. There’s a stunning lounge, and the garden has cosy little seating spots for better weather. Our room was light and airy, with a great shower, plenty of wardrobe space, a dressing table, and Jacobean style furniture that felt luxurious. The bed was comfortable and the linen beautifully presented. The fridge in our room was fab for the champagne we’d brought, and they offered us ice and glasses. The road outside is a bit wary to cross because the house is on a junction, so look both ways. It’s near the marina, and a pleasant, not too long walk into the main part of Bowness. The boat trips are a lovely way to spend an hour taking in the surroundings. Thanks to you both, and Rachel, for a memorable stay.

The Annex was amazing, with a very comfortable bed, a great shower and a massive bath. Everything we needed for a lovely stay was provided. The owner greeted us when we arrived around 4.00, and she was brilliant. She explained a few house rules, took our breakfast order and gave us useful information about the area, including places to eat and bus and taxi services. Breakfast was excellent too: fresh juice, toast, yoghurt and fruit, a full English or other choices, and decent coffee. Glen was a great host, and we had a lovely chat about his bikes. My Mrs booked Storrs Gate House as a birthday present for me. We parked in the car park and carried our bags in. The two hosts really make a great partnership. The location is brilliant, with a lovely walk along the lake to Bowness, and a lot to offer. We’d definitely stay again.
