Thornleigh House

Rain forced us off our campsite, so we booked the Kingfisher at very short notice. Carla was accommodating and got us booked in straight away. We stayed two nights and were very happy with everything. The apartment was spotlessly clean, with a comfortable bed. Our 7-year-old loved her sofa bed and the games in the living room. After being blown around and soaked in the rain, we really appreciated the amazing shower and lovely warm bathroom. The kitchen had everything we needed for simple meals, and local shops had all the supplies we needed. It's a great location, close to lake Windermere and amenities. Highly recommend it if you're after a comfortable stay near the lake.

The good points were the location, free parking, a clean room and a comfy bed. But there was mould on the walls and windowsill, and the bathroom sink drained so slowly that water took ages to go down. There may be a problem with it. The shower head was tiny, like a sprinkler, so washing my hair took ages. The room was very small with a low ceiling, and I was constantly bending down. It was absolutely freezing even after the radiator had been on for hours. It eventually warmed up, but still wasn't comfortable. The throw in the drawer helped. Unfortunately, I wouldn't stay again.

We had a perfect New Year stay, and the place was spotless. Nothing bad to say. It was an ensuite room, just a 10-minute walk to town and the lake. We booked at the last minute and can't wait to come back.

We had an amazing, very quiet stay, and it was close to Bowness Marina.
