Wild Boar Estate

I can't speak to the bedrooms, but the bar and restaurant had a quirky, old-fashioned character that suited the centuries-old building. There was an open fire, exposed oak beams, low doorways and ceilings, and even a distinctive slate waterfall urinal. The food and drinks were very nice, and I left stuffed. I chose the Beer Bat, three one-third pint glasses of their own IPA, Pale, and Stout, included in the price. Tea and coffee were included too, with refills. I went to the Wild Boar for its Alternative Afternoon Tea and will definitely return for a weekend break and a walk around the estate. They provide wellies for guests.

Dinner and breakfast were both excellent, and everyone on the staff was friendly. The reception lady was especially professional, polite, thorough, and welcoming. We were offered a welcome drink of moonshine too. Our dog-friendly room came with a bed, towel, bowl, mat, and a treat bag with a ball and snacks, plus there were lots of treats in the bar and lounge. The whole place felt warm and snug, with wood fires, comfortable seating, and a quaint vintage inn atmosphere. The bar was great, service was amazing, and drinks seemed reasonably priced compared with other places. They were presented nicely too, and I loved my wine in a skinny-stemmed glass. We had a relaxing, flawless one-night stay and would definitely recommend it, especially in winter. We'll be back!

I haven't stayed as a guest, but I've been for afternoon tea a few times. The service is great, the food is tasty and there's plenty of it. A complimentary drink is included, and the tea and coffee can be refilled. It's a beautiful place too. What's not to like?

The hotel area was lovely and the staff were attentive when I visited for the alternative afternoon tea. I'd heard good reviews, but for the price the food was just okay and nothing special, sadly. It was nice that an alcoholic drink came with the hot drinks, though. Thanks!
