Charles House

Had a great night's sleep in a really comfy room, and it was great value for money. The bathroom was beautiful, and the room was clean, with fresh towels, a full-size fridge and plenty of fans for both cooling and warmth. Tea, coffee, biscuits, shower gel, shampoo and hand wash were provided. The Co op is right across from the house. We were also lucky enough to see the kings horses and riders go by. I'll definitely use charles house again.

The room was spacious, clean, and nicely warm. There’s parking nearby, and everything you need is close. I’d happily book here again.

Getting in was easy, with the digital entry codes sent before check-in. The suite was warm and cosy, with a roomy interior, a little courtyard, and useful free amenities. I was glad to have a fridge and ice box too. The river is about a three-minute walk away, and town and Windsor Castle take around five or six minutes to reach. The station is roughly four or five minutes on foot, which made the trip back to London simple. I had a really comfortable stay and would book again if I return to Windsor.

We ended up checking into a hotel instead, and in hindsight I can see why. The listing mentions parking but leaves out that it costs £20 and is up the road, across the street. That was especially inconvenient with all our luggage. When I called to ask about it, nobody answered, and my WhatsApp message seemed to be blocked. The rooms felt very dated, the beds were small, and the carpet looked worn and possibly not very clean. Although the location is central, I wouldn’t feel comfortable walking there at night. Road noise was horrendous, and the front door kept slamming. The pictures seemed misleading, like they might have been taken 20 years ago. We’d spent two weeks in the UK staying at lovely places, but this wasn’t one of them. I can’t understand how people give it five stars.
